Mini-Mail Bag Part Deux
For the record, the "Part Deux" is in reference to all the action with Rousseau and her team and is in no way connected to "Hot Shots: Part Deux".
There was another great comment posted to the comments section that I wanted to make sure all people read... and before I even had time to respond to it, loyal sethislost reader Jim gave just about the answer I was going to give... so well done Jim.
"I recently got my husband into Lost, and he's watching the 1st season on-line. I was noticing that in one of the earlier episodes that Walt was referred to as being special. Walt's step-dad told Michael that bad things happen around Walt. (Remember the bird that died while he was reading the book.) Then the woman from the Others camp told Michael Walt was special. This has never been addressed thus far. Do you think it will be this season? Any theories?" - Patty
Jim replied:
"I'm hoping we get something more on Walt. Incidentally, we've been given at least one other hint as to Walt's "special powers." Before season 4 aired, there were a series of short "webisodes" released, called The Missing Pieces. One of them dealt with Walt doing some very strange things while being held in Room 23 (the room where Ben was brainwashing Karl)."

Walt is a character that has slipped into obscurity and it's too bad because he was one of the most intriguing characters from the beginning. Whatever he was thinking about came true. He was reading a comic book with a polar bear in the jungle and that happened immediately. He has very special powers and I don't know why these powers weren't addressed when Michael found Walt's camp to begin with.

While it is not at all uncommon to find me in a bar you will rarely/almost never see it on a Lost night. Too many distractions. However, get me in a bar on a Thursday night with a scotch in my hand talking about the previous night's episode... I'll be a happy man.

In all the talk I have heard from the season opener, nobody commented on the fact that the alternate universe characters are 4 years behind those on the island. Maybe I missed you talking about it, but do you think its important and that will come into play, in what way?
